First thought was go to the pub for lunch and ask somebody.
Great old school pub, super friendly staff, they gave us the directions we needed. and we had a superb lunch too.
Defiantly be back.

Stopped in for lunchtime roast, cheesy garlic bread, and a cold beer.
This brilliant country pub never disappoints, food is top quality with great flavours, good menu choices for kids and oldies. The rustic interior and casual style is an inviting experience for tired travellers. This pub gets very busy on weekends with bike riders, families, and local friends. Making your mission there an early one and settling in for the afternoon is a must for the foodies. - warrick dawson Added January 30, 2024★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆So, I checked the site yesterday, Melbourne Cup Eve abd it showed open 7 days. We set off, my wife, daughter and me for a planned 1pm lunch from Research. Lovely drive via Yarra Glen, approach the pub and obviously closed. Certainly not open 7 days. Continue the drive and discover the Bajery at Shell Service Centre, Kinglake West. Yes, yes, yes! The bakery was excellent. A real find.
